The only good part of St. Charles is downtown, and the best part of downtown is Picasso's. They need more vegan selections (hence only 4 stars), but the portobello panini is pretty great. They'll sub the cream cheese for hummus without the douchey upcharge some places do. Staff is super friendly (one barista is a proud vegan herself), crowd is a mixed bag (lots of college kids who keep things colorful, if not ill-dressed), ambiance is perfect (you'll forget you're in St. Charles!). Oh, and the coffee is good too.

Super adorable - good tea selection. Stopped in after dinner on a business trip to grab a soy decaf latte and a cinnamon bun. The latte was fresh and I also appreciated that the barista did not burn the soy milk [nor the espresso].

Coffee was delightful, relaxed environment, good cup of Jo'. They do pour over here for the coffee enthusiasts but don't have anything too crazy, just dark and medium roasts.

This place is pretty neat and their beverages are exceptional. Tastes like Starbucks and the setting inside sets a relaxing feeling. Staff is very friendly and are very good at what they do.

Lots of variety and excellent service. My drinks are always consistently made, no matter who makes them. It can get crowded, and there can be a slight wait to get your drinks, but it's totally worth the wait, since the staff takes such care and time crafting your beverage.

Some of the best latte I have ever had. The brunch here is really good, the eggs benedict was superb. It is cozy inside, adorned with plenty of local art. Although small, there always seems to be enough seating.

Good humored personnel. The espresso I ordered looks great. Downside - the cappuccino price is 3.60. I was encouraged to get one of several guest espressos, which turned out to be another dollar. Not a big deal but bad sport. Recommendation - transparency about extras.

Apparently, if you're ordering anything except coffee, everyone ignores your order and you. There were three people feverishly making made to order beverages, occasionally looking my way, then on to more coffee or cleaning. Eventually, I decided to followup on my steak salad. Everyone, including the guy that took my order, were literally deer in the headlights dumbfounded. No one even started to start my order. The guy that took my order and my payment didn't even relay my order to anyone. After I complained, he avoided eye contact (he was directly in front of me) and didn't say one word. When I said I preferred a refund, the lady I was talking to walked away from me in mid-sentence! I refused their fully punched frequent coffee buyer card. Another lady was at the register now, but rather that asking me what I ordered, she went out of her way to track someone else down to find out. No one apologized. I had to ask for a refund receipt, then was almost refused one! Never again will I return. I'm sure their coffee is wonderful, as they also went out of their way to create personalized 12 oz bags of particular blend s for other customers. I should know. I waited in their cafe for 20 minutes with nothing to do except watch.

Easily the best place to get coffee in St. Charles County. Not only do they use a great local source for their beans, but the baristas really know their craft. You can always expect great drinks and latte art!

Picasso's is by far the best place to get coffee (and breakfast or a snack) in St. Louis or St. Charles. The baristas are educated, friendly, helpful and fun to talk with. They don't mind questions and don't make you feel like an idiot for asking! There are so many yummy choices - I want to try them all. So far, the Highland Grog is probably my favorite flavor. I purchased the whole beans to make at home - pricey but worth it, in my opinion. The ambience is neat and you can sit outside and enjoy your beverage while watching people walk by. The afternoon we went, it was a cloudy day and raining off and on, so maybe not as busy as it usually is on the weekends - but we loved sitting at the cafe table listening to some 60's music they had playing, and just relaxing. I think after a long hiatus, Main Street is making a comeback thanks to cool places like this. I can't wait to return.

Not a place to go if you're looking for quality coffee or espresso. I think this place runs to cater to the masses which isn't terrible if you're looking for something among those lines. I was expecting the 'art of coffee' when I really just got a mediocre cappuccino and an over extracted drip coffee that I waited too long for and paid WAY too much for in a place that seemed a little hokey. To each his own I guess.

I wish I could give even more stars... Picasso's is amazing. Not only does every employee have an absolute love for the art of coffee... the ambiance is amazing. I have had almost every drink on the menu through the years and have never been disappointed. Through the years I have been inspired by great coffee, beautiful artwork, and some amazing musical guests. This is one of those solid coffee house finds that really inspires the community. Ask the barista what they suggest for your drink ... you will always get a solid answer!

This was amazing! The best croissant I've ever had. I've been to Paris, eaten croissants in Paris, and this is the best fricken croissant I've ever had. So buttery, do flakey, so melt in your mouth. It complimented the tuna, spinach, and tomato so perfectly. And the coffee! Oh God, don't get me started on the coffee. The beans were so fresh. It seemed as if they grew the beans fresh themselves, out back. They pick the beans themselves, wash them, and grind them by hand. They milk the cows themselves, purify it, whip the cream by hand, and lovingly place it on the beans infused with water. They lovingly kiss every cup and add a fern leaf design to the cream. So excellent!

If you enjoy your coffee and a good coffee experience, this place deserves a visit. The staff are great, each cup is freshly brewed and it has a great environment. This place is worth the drive. Even for the die-hard city lovers like myself.

Picasso's now serves BEER AND FOOD! I don't mean just a croissant or bagel. I'm talking proper brunch! And, it was delicious. And a 16 oz cup of freshly brewed Blue Mountain coffee is still only $4!!!!!! Fuggedaboudit! I was vexed writing this update, as the staff wasn't very friendly at all. Took my order, took my money. Almost forgot my change (which I would've put into the tip jar). Warmed my ham-n-cheese croissant when I specifically asked for it NOT to be warmed. Talked amongst themselves about hot water devices, never once paying attention to me standing at the counter waiting ever-so-patiently for my order. Luckily, for approximately the same price as an over-burnt, oily and burnt-tasting (wait, did I say that already, dept. of redundancy department?) cup of coffee from that OTHER coffee place, Star-Crossed or something like that. So, other than the emo-wannabe help behind the counter, I still love this place. And their coffee.

Looks like a cool little place. Although I wouldn't know. We walked in for a late brunch and cup of coffee. After the woman working behind the counter stopped her personal conversation about her evening plans she finally just looked in our general direction. No breakfast, no other options for us. One of the other workers did offer to help with some sort of breakfast but the chatty woman up front waved her off. No breakfast, no patron in me.

  • Andrew W.

Went in at 2pm on a weekend and breakfast was no longer served. Didn't even ask what they could make for us, because lord knows oatmeal is not possible to make once the kitchen is setup for lunch. What??? Dumbest business practice in 80% of the cafes around town. If you are going to be open all day, and only have 8 things on the menu to begin with, serve all of them all day long. We went elsewhere.

  • Susan L.

We went there today in the late morning and it was a positive experience until near the end. We had a very pleasant and humorous conversation with the two people working there, and we ordered two pieces of pumpkin bread plus the largest size Snickers mocha latte & the largest size peanut butter latte. They use an iPad for credit card payments and it asks if you want to give a tip, with three options of their choice (beginning with 15%, which is what we selected [I think it's a little audacious for a coffee house to really up the ante on tipping]). Then there was a choice of how you want to receive your receipt (paper receipt, text message and something else). I happen to always want a paper receipt (staunch environmentalist though I normally am), but somehow the woman at the cashier's got too bogged-down with the customers who arrived after us and apparently she threw our receipt in the trash. I told her and the barista I was concerned about that, since we've had credit card fraud *three times* over the years. They told me the credit card numbers aren't on the receipts (o.k., no problem). The woman couldn't find our receipt in the trash (there were only two people who'd arrived after us, so how hard could it be?!) and she was quite flustered after looking at just a few crumpled receipts. The barista told her to print out a duplicate receipt and "cancel" the transaction (not my problem) - but when she gave me the receipt, the tip wasn't listed. I'm the customer and I certainly deserve a receipt that shows *exactly* what I paid, because otherwise I'd have no *proof* - and it's not like this place is in the city I live in. When I looked at the duplicate receipt, I realized we'd been charged a tip on the tax as well (since there was no option to choose the tip amount). Some people might be foolish enough to pay a tip on the tax, but there's no way we're going to do that. I told them I wanted a refund of the tip amount on the tax (it's not the *amount* of money; it's the *principle*). It's not *my* fault they use an iPad, it's not my fault their iPad system chooses the tip amounts, it's not my fault their iPad system charges the tip amount on tax, AND it's not my fault that the cashier threw away my receipt when I specifically said I wanted it. The barista became testy at that point and said "How much of a refund do you want; $2.00?!" I said "No, just give me 50 cents". Despite that ridiculous and ultimately unpleasant end, we thought the interior was very attractive (they even have Sticks furniture and there's a lot of nice artwork on the walls). Also, the restrooms were very clean. I must say that we were shocked about the high prices of the lattes ($5.25-!! for the Snickers, $4.50 for the peanut butter & 50 cents for syrup) and especially because the taste wasn't exceptional. However; the pumpkin bread was a *bargain* ($2.25/slice and it was *delicious*).

This is the coffee house of my soul. They churn out mean lattes, yogurt parfaits (sans gelatin, A+), and really tasty lunches. The real draw are the baristas. I miss Picasso's almost as much as I miss my friends, family, and cats now that I'm in North Carolina.

Lunch visit. Ordered the gourmet grilled cheese with chips and a pickle. Totally yummo!!!! Feel free to give the kitchen some creative license to play with this. You will be very happy. I recommend the traditional cappuccino for the coffee. This seems have more espresso in it than Panera or many other coffee places. This is a difficult review for me to write because I have been coming here for years on a daily basis. I truly won't buy my coffee anywhere else. The employees stick around for months and years and know many customers by name and are happy to welcome new bees. Unique aspects of the place include a different local artist on the walls every month, individually brewed pour over coffee, live music on the weekends. They even have some kinda beer university thing going on. The clientele include business people, college students, tourists, cyclists, artsy sorts. A real melting pot. The neighborhood is the best. Cobblestone streets, Missouri River, Katy trail, casino, Lindenwood. You get the idea. Check it out. This is a true gem of the St. Louis area.

I have to mention the area surrounding Picasso's first. It is so neat! This is the part of St. Charles which holds many fun, artsy shops and great restaurants. It's right off the Katy Trail and Missouri River. My Mom and I biked into St. Charles from Creve Coeur the day I discovered Picasso's. It was the perfect rest stop for our 20 mile bike ride. My Mom couldn't wait to show me the place! Honestly, this is in the top three best coffee houses I've ever been too. It may be number one actually. I love the vibe of Picasso's: great food, great decor and local artwork everywhere. The custom made tables are amazing. The fireplace and custom made furniture are a very nice touch. The staff is very friendly as well. I love how Picasso's has discount study nights for students and they also host music events. The whole environment is totally inviting and comfortable. I could spend a whole day there reading, social networking and people watching! My Mom and I split a fruit parfait and it was perfect, not too sweet. We each got iced teas and they were perfect. They were made from scratch, not pre-brewed. I do have to say that the outside is a bit deceiving. It looks like a bar. The inside and outside totally don't go together. BUT this doesn't detour from the awesomeness of Picasso's. I definitely want to visit again. I uploaded a lot of photos in this review. Check em out. I just couldn't stop taking pics! So many great things to look at!

MMMMMM....Obviously Picasso's doesn't need my review, but I'll leave it anyway! I grew up in St. Charles and am rediscovering my hometown after being away for several years. Small town coffee shops like Picasso's give me a reason to love being back home again after experiencing some of the best coffee shops around the world. Here's what I Love: 1) That they support local artists and musicians. The decor is filled with art for sale and they have weekly live shows on weekends. It's a fun way to discover new talent! 2) Location! They're right on Main Street which makes for a wonderful place to sit and people watch or stop in after a day of shopping with friends or family. 3) Their tea. I've loved every hot tea I've ordered from them and enjoy their iced coffee as well. 4) Their service. Baristas are always friendly, quirky, and fun. They really do get to know their regulars and will strike up conversation with you while they're filling your order. The only thing I've ever been disappointed in was a smoothie I got last week, but that's probably my fault for expecting a smoothie to be as good at a coffee shop as it would be at a smoothie shop. I've never had any of their food before, but did enjoy a fruit yogurt parfait, and found it satisfying! All in all- I have a true love for this place and am grateful to have such a fun, fresh place to meet friends for coffee dates in St. Charles! ************* June 3, 2012 UPDATE: I've had lunch with a friend at Picasso's twice since my first review and their food is to DIE for! If you're looking for something cheap, healthy, and delicious- they are the place to go! Their hummus tray is beautiful and yummy, and I loved their chicken salad sandwich and strawberry vinaigrette salad. Go get some eats! :)

Seriously. I mean seriously. This place has THE BEST coffee I have EVER had. Period. I would drive 30 minutes out of my way just to get their Van Gogh Milky Way on ice, it is that good. After dinner at Q, I told my parents we had to stop at Picasso's to get some coffee. I'm not a huge coffee fan, I mean I'll have the occassional Starbucks, but I don't drink coffee everyday. So when I raved about this place and told them how wonderful it was, I'm sure they expected it to be good, but they were blown away. My Dad said 'I'm sure its good, but I don't even like coffee that much, it really can't be that big of a deal'. So what did I do? Ordered him the Van Gogh on ice and waited for his reaction after his first sip. He said 'oh my, this is like heaven', and folks, it really is. I love the shop because it uses all local products and they take extra time to make things so delicious and even make cute designs in the froth of the hot drinks. So what if you wait a few minutes extra and it isn't as fast as Starbucks? It's well worth the wait and if you had the choice, I guarantee you would never go back to the chain coffee places again. I know I'm hooked!

I had a terrible experience at Picasso's. For starters, I'm a former barista, so I understand the difficulty of multi-tasking while preparing drinks during rush hour. So when I noticed there were five people in front of me in line, I expected some wait for my beverage. I waited 40 minutes. 40 minutes for a latte. While I waited, I watched the baristas. There were several behind the counter, but many seemed to just stand there idly. Even though there might only be one espresso machine, there are ways to multi-task and prepare other facets of the beverage (steaming milk, pumping syrup, etc.) while waiting for the espresso. Yet, multi-tasking seemed a foreign concept to these baristas. The gingerbread latte itself was far too sweet -- I couldn't even finish. What a waste of 40 minutes. Finally, I looked at my receipt later that day and noticed that they charged me 50 cents for whipped cream. What??! Who does that? In fact, I specifically requested "light whipped cream," which makes this upcharge all the more frustrating. I will not be returning to Picasso's, and I've certainly let friends who visit St. Charles to avoid Picasso's as well.

I love their Pumpkin Spice Latte. It is better than Starbuck's. Their spinach croissant is so flaky and delicious! The shop is very cute, clean and cozy. I love coming here!

Kids hot chocolate = cold, coffee not very good considering they know the "art" of brewing coffee. They were really busy and under staffed so I will give them the benefit of the doubt... Staff was kind of rude because they were overwhelmed. Probably won't return here. Expensive too. I threw my coffee away. I have edited my review to 3-stars because the owner contacted me on yelp in an effort to correct my bad experience. This was appreciated.

Picasso's Coffee on a rainy Saturday morning..... Inviting exterior decor and a great interior setting makes for a fantastic vibe. Each cup of coffee is made just for you in front of you! They grind the fresh beans in front of you and place them in a single drip holder and pour the hot water in which then drips into your cup. I had the Black Lighting Dark Roast and loved every drop. I also had an egg bagel sandwich, also made fresh, that was wonderful. Thanks for being real!

I am a regular, if intermittent, customer since the first days of the original location on Hwy K in O'Fallon. The owner is a super nice guy and is often on the premises. They do a lovely latte, though over the summer I stick with the iced drinks... I've had a bite for lunch on more than one occasion; the food is simple but filling. I'm not typically in on evenings but they support the local arts scene with installations by local painters and live music from local bands. There are tables for dining on the sidewalk, bike racks to secure your wheels, and free wifi. Parking is on the street (the lot is *tiny). There's a bike shop on the opposite corner and the Katy Trail is a block away. Picasso's is an anchor on Main Street and an asset for St. Charles. Support your local business owners!

I absolutely love the location of this coffee house! Coming from a HUGE city and experiencing small town Missouri is definetely a culture shock. So going to a coffee shop that is just a short stroll away from the Missouri River and surrounded by hills, old brick building a cobblestone streets had me amazed. Wish I could say that about the actual coffee. I think I shouldn't be so harsh on the actual product itself though because what really spoiled my experience there was how busy they were and that led to a cramped space filled with jittery folks needing a caffeine fix. The Wifi is great and I noticed they do an open mic every week, plus the barista decorated my coffee drink by turning the foam into a leaf in my cup. Which is something that I've never seen before, outside of the movies. So I appreciated that little effort to make my coffee special because after the long wait to get my cup of coffee, I definetely needed a little something special to change my mind on the place. So that is why I gave a three star rating, I wouldn't say its a bad place nor would I say that it is an amazing place. Yet, there are little things that make it good enough for me to revisit many times in the near future.

Visiting the midwest from CO, and my boyfriend and I like to visit local coffee shops instead of chains to see if we can find GOOD coffee. Well, we found good coffee, excellent staff, and a cool atmosphere. We got a plain latte to be able to taste the coffee. The coffee was well presented with latte art,..not that it really matters, but it is a nice touch, and a good sign that the coffee will be good. My boyfriend chatted it up with the friendly barista, who did an excellent job. Shop was clean and neat in the historic downtown area. Best coffee we had in the St. Louis area over the weekend. You need to try it!

I've been to Main Street St. Charles a million times, but somehow never made it down to the far end. Picasso's didn't always used to be on Main Street, but that's where it moved and I'm so glad I ventured into the more modern part of the street. I love this part! Picasso's looks like a bar, almost, and has outdoor tables with umbrellas. Inside, the place where you order is tiny. But there is another room that's full of color and offers a fun seating area that's suited to quiet study or visiting with friends. They offer free WiFi, which is great. It's really a different sort of coffeehouse atmosphere and I'll definitely be going back.

Really nice independent coffeehouse/live music venue/resto. I have not eaten here but the lunch only menu looked attractice. This is the closest thing in the area to the independent coffeehouses I miss from my decades in Champaign-Urbana, IL. Nice mix of tourists and locals, and I recommend you stop by on your next Main St. shopping jaunt.

Very cool coffee house type setting in old town St Charles and, more importantly they've got great coffee options. I went there 4 days in a row and got consistently amazing coffee drinks. I normally go for fairly basic coffee drinks, but I guess I got wrapped up in the whole Autumn seasonal thing, and the pumpkin spice latte caught my eye. Wow, that was like a big piece if pumpkin pie in a cup; with the value-added benefit of a caffeine buzz. After that, I threw caution to the wind and ordered another crazy coffee concoction each morning (like the Almond Joy latte). The guy working behind the counter in the mornings is sort of like the Yoda of baristas. I doubt if a coffee drink exists that he couldn't whip up in less than 5 minutes. There is also a lot of very cool, unique (and for sale) art throughout the place. Your day is bound to be better if you start it with a coffee creation from this place. I didn't try any of the food options, but they looked great.

Charming coffee shop! I loved the kitschy art decor, most of which seems to have been customed made for them. I had the Almond Joy Mocha iced and it was fantastic. Definitely made with high quality coffee. The veggie eggs benedict was delcioius- spinach and mushrooms on whole wheat english muffin, light hollandaise sauce. I split a large cinnamon roll with my group too, and it was drool-worthy. mmmm. Plus, friendly and accommodating staff. If I lived closer, I would definitely frequent Picasso's.

I have not been to Picasso's in a while, and thinking about it now makes want to go back. This is easily one of the best coffee shops in St. Louis and probably my favorite in all of St. Charles. I know that isn't saying much because it's not exactly coffee heaven out there, but you know what I mean...it certainly knocks Panera on its butt. This place is adorable. There is a ton of outdoor seating and you get to look out onto Main St. which is one of the cutest parts of this city. I love that there's no big college nearby, so you get to avoid that annoying College Kid Coffee Crowd you get at so many of the places in St. Louis. Also, the coffee is amazing. I drank a lot of this stuff when I worked in St. Charles. I never felt sick, even when I got the highly caffeinated stuff, and it's always fresh tasting. I always hate it when I can tell the coffee has been sitting around for far too long. FYI....it's pretty far down the street from the main drag so you might have to walk a little further than you ordinarily would on Main St. It's worth it though, and you can burn off the calories you consume in their baked goods by taking the longer trek.

  • Judy K.

Hands down--the best coffee shop in the entire St. Louis-St. Charles area. The coffee is made one cup at a time and I've never been disappointed. My favorite is a skim vanilla latte. It's best enjoyed in a mug while seated in the very cozy seating area. I actually use the little spoon to scrape all the foam out of the bottom of the cup. When the weather's nice, you can sit at one of the tables on the sidewalk and people watch or catch up on a book. Awesome place! Certainly puts Starbucks to shame!

Superior coffee. Very new age hippie coffee house in the old town district. Their brews are light years better than any chain. Definitely worth "driving across the river" to get a cup of this coffee. They had a Rwanda brew - they ought to call it "Genocide" because it KILLED my insides - but I am good with that. You drink 20 ounces of strong coffee; you get what you pay for, right? Go here if you are a real connoisseur.

Favorite coffee shop in St. Charles! Friendly barista, casual, relaxing atmosphere, and great drinks! They almost always have live music, whether it be open mic night or local musicians. I love that they promote and support local artists!

December 6, 2014 Last stop of the night. Enjoyed a nice warm roast beef sammich with my date. The music was the perfect winding down style from the rah-rah of the previous venue we attended. The wine-by-the-glass list is surprisingly strong! The low-boy wine glasses are perfect for the "tight" tables and for roaming around the place. Service is absolutely perfect. Food quality is as well. The wine selection in this small venue deserves another mention. Well done.

Went here for a first date. Wow. Staff incredibly friendly and the place had a nice crowd, even for a random Tuesday night. We ordered almond joy and grasshopper (minty) drinks, both blended. They were magical. Like the beautiful baby of an iced coffee and a rich milk shake. I could have finished two more if left to my own devices. My only minor, teensy tiny gripe was the price- a bit high. Two drinks in grande (medium) size ran me ten bucks. Was expecting more like eight. Minus that, Picasso's has a great little charm to it and i'm happy to see Main St. get a coffee shop that is open fairly late.

I came here because i needed caffeine. I didn't expect much and it blew me away. First of all, they make amazing iced coffee here. i got the ethiopian yirgacheffe and was really pleased. additionally, they told me it costs 75 cent to refill the coffee once. HOLY COW i did NOT expect to get that. Coffee that good is usually 3 bucks and no cheap refills! To top it all off, the people are friendly AND they're open late on weekends = win! If I'm here, i'm getting coffee! Probably gonna be visiting this place any time i'm within a mile of down town st. charles.

When I was at Lindenwood, everyone talked and talked about Picasso's. I wasn't into coffee and Picasso's was farther than Crooked Tree, so I never ventured there until recently when I wanted a latte. I forget which one it was (I really must write reviews the day I go places!), but it was a drink for the winter months and it was tasty. Picasso's is pretty big and it has a great location on Main Street. It has a cozy feeling that I never experienced at Crooked Tree, though I still love Crooked Tree). Now I see what all the talk was about. I'll be back.

Great music and Java on historic Main Street Saint Charles. Watch for the Ghost man here before his tours of the unseen. Tip the barista.

Three stars because there is never a seat! Delicious food and tasty drinks. I like the cream cheese croissant and chai tea best.

Came here on a Saturday after a wedding. They are extremely friendly and helpful if you aren't sure what you want to order. I got a vanilla latte and my daughter a hot chocolate. We also ordered ..I think it was called something like coffee gooey butter cake. It was perfection. Craving it right now. Love the atmosphere. Small and quaint. There are also places to sit outside.

If have to agree with most reviewers! I came here because of all the rave reviews for this place, first and foremost it smells amazing! The coffee is excellent with some very interesting creations. Can't go wrong by checking this place out! I'd say the only downside is that it is on the upper end of coffee shop price ranges.

I was only in St Charles for the weekend for a short college visit of my brothers behalf, but after seeing the reviews on Yelp, my coffee-crazy self just felt obligated to try this place out! Since I only had time for a coffee, that's simply what I got; or to be fair, probably the best soy cappucino I've ever had in my entire life. Oh, how I wish I lived close so I could come back; I swear I had the hardest time to decide my order. Staff was soooo friendly and very professional, and I almost got jealous of their teamwork; I wanted to work there! Also, a huge plus for having seats outside! Overall; try to stop by this place, even just for a coffee. It's worth it.

I was looking for a coffee place close to where I was staying and after reading all the reviews I decided to try this place out. When I walked in it smelled delicious and right away the staff behind the counter greeted me. I very much enjoyed the layout of the shop and the smell of the coffee dripping in front of me. I was going to order a regular house coffee but the friendly barista recommended I try their most popular cup which was delicious and tasty. It may have had some vanilla, butterscotch rum and something else. It was so delicious I'm coming back for another before heading home. Overall this is a great place with great coffee, friendly staff and a cool place to hang out and just unwind.

This is a fantastic coffee house. I wish I could go more often. I had a river view while enjoying a little piece of heaven in a mug. The seating side is tiered into three levels. I sat on the banquette on the second level. After a few sips I noticed the most peaceful view of the river passing by. This made the whole experience more delightful. Lots of regulars that seem to know, or at least, greet each other. Makes this cozy, you are in someone's living room, type feeling. College student to seniors seem to enjoy this coffee shop. I can see why. The staff is super friendly and hard working. Tables cleaned the moment they opened up. They also have free Wi-Fi. I will return for a big warm mug of coffee...next time I will add a croissant. The croissant are the size of someone's face, they are HUGE! I wish I had gotten a picture on one.

I don't know why I haven't gone here before, considering they have been around for awhile. I've always gone to Crooked Tree but now I have a 2nd choice. We happened in this Saturday when Main Street was also having some kind of art show, so the place was probably unusually busy, but the staff handled it all pretty well. We opted for two soufflés, one spinach and cheese? the other ham and cheese. They were good and I found out sourced from La Bonne Bouchee and looked exactly what you get from Panera. I also ordered the Chi Tea Latte on a Yelper recommendation and also the coffee grog thing (my memory often fades fast). The tea was excellent, the coffee ... not as great. It tasted just like normal coffee but was to have whatever the grog has in it (butterscotch was one flavor?) Before leaving we also bought to take with us the cheese pastry and spinach and feta croissant (which I assume also came from La Bonne) and both were very good. I also ordered the peach smoothie but not before asking the girl behind the register if they were any good ... a question I often ask when out, to see what kind of reaction I get ...and hers was the best. :) Call it a test question on what I like to refer to as "ownership" of the food and service. For what I would give overall a 4 star ... the service and personalities make it up to 5. I'll go back.

My favorite favorite coffee place. Whether by yourself or with a group of friends, whether it is summer or winter, whether it is morning or evening, you will love this cozy artsy place. To start with, coffee - they have a good assortment of coffee flavors and also a few season specials. The ambiance, it is so so different, you can grab a chair in the patio with your friends in summer or find yourself a cozy corner in winter or by yourself. The tables are nicely painted with a tealight.. Local music artistes play during weekends and possibly other evenings at times too, so you can have a good time just by yourself. Local artists have their art work displayed for sale as well. The baristas always serve with a smile and you can easily see their vocation and avocation meet.

Best coffee in town! Don't forget to ask for a punch card! They also have sugar-free mochas! Their blended masterpieces are true masterpieces. It's very crowded and busy all the time. Their food is also excellent. If you are looking for a coffee menu I'll post pictures.

My husband and I came here on a Friday night after seeing the positive reviews. Overall, the coffee was great; the service could be improved. When we first arrived, we waited around for 1-2 minutes in front of the register without any acknowledgment of our presence. Even though we were next in line, the cashier walked to the back to pour wine for a customer before us (without saying hi to us or letting us know that she'll be back shortly), and the baristas were focused on their coffee and didn't say a word to us. Sometime during this initial period, somebody could have said something to us, nonetheless looked at us. Luckily, the drinks were pretty good. I got a grasshopper mocha, which wasn't too sweet, and my husband got a latte, which he liked. Overall, five stars for the quality of the coffee, but I docked a star for the less-than-perfect service.

Delicious Coconut Almond Mocha. Snippy little barista informed that you cannot get a discount refill of regular coffee after spending 6 bucks on a mocha, you must buy a house coffee at FULL price (2.80), then you can have discount on subsequent refills - WTF? Nice location with view of the river if you find the right spot in the crowded lounge area. It was a cold, windy day and lounge was heated only by a little plug-in electric heater - I was chilled the whole time. Good coffee, but I'll take a PASS ON THIS PLACE.

Best coffee beverages in the St. Louis area. Their Tahitian vanilla frappe is out of this world good (Starbucks doesn't even compare). Their frozen drinks are always smooth as a milkshake (no ice chunks like some other coffee house's frozen beverages), and their ingredients always taste and smell super fresh, no matter what you order. The pomegranate martini is excellent, too, if you're in the mood for an adult beverage. It's orange, and pomegranate, and icy cold yum in a glass. I highly recommend it. Great place to sit and chat with a friend, or a significant other. Nice comfy chairs, cute little tables. It's a quaint place. Sometimes they have music, and it's always enjoyable. Patio outside is nice too. Go

Thought I had to come and try their coffee after all the raving reviews. Staff is friendly, price is ok, and the atmosphere is cute, but To my disappointment the coffee was mediocre at best. I had lavender latte and I can't really taste the espresso at all. Probably won't come back again unless I'm in the area and I need wifi...

Picasso's is a delightful little coffee house on Main Street in St. Charles. I don't find myself out that way too often, but when I am, it's my go-to spot. I like to snag a table towards the back and work away on my computer over a latte, but it also makes a great lunch spot or just a good place to relax! They open at 6:30am which I always appreciate in a coffee shop, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they're open until midnight! They book local musicians and artists, and each month they showcase work from someone new. The current artist is Jim Koetting, who specials in underwater photography, mainly shipwrecks from around the world. How cool is that? It makes it fun to look around and you might even learn something new. They often have live music, too. The coffee drinks are always on point, but I can't speak much to the food. I've only had the hummus plate but I can't quit raving about it! The garlic hummus was so filling, and I loved how much fresh cucumber and bell pepper came along with it. It's not easy to eat healthy away from home, so I love a place that loads me up with veggies. The place isn't huge so be prepared to have to hunt for a few or wait for a seat to open... your best bet is in the afternoon during the week. Great little spot in St. Charles!

This is a most delightful coffee shop to patronize before the shops on Main Street in Old St. Charles open. My college chum and I always arrive a tad early to get in a good coffee here in this lovely shop. This morning, I got a 16-ounce, quite tasty decaf Highlander Grog in a gorgeous mug. My college chum got a beautiful skim-milk hot chocolate -- skip the whipped cream. We found a sunny table for enjoying out liquid wares. They do offer plenty of enticing scones and croissants, as well as breakfast sandwiches. Lunch is served, too.

Great experience walking around Main St. In St. Charles. We stepped in to get warm and grab a little something to nibble on. I had a cupcake and my wife tried one of their cake bombs. WOW! I have never tasted anything so delicious! I'm sure the cake bomb was delicious as well, although I wouldn't know, my wife refused to share! They get them from a local baker - Piece of Cake Bakery. The coffee was great as well. We will definitely be back!

One of my new favorite places! Instead of being lazy last Sunday morning, I decided to hop on my bike and ride the Katy Trail to St. Charles. I usually like having a destination in mind and the thought of a caramel latte gave me just the motivation I needed to bike the 10 miles to get there, so Picasso's it was. Situated on the picturesque Main St. in St. Charles, Picasso's has the typical (and always welcoming) coffee shop feel to it. You walk right into where you order and off to the side are plenty of tables and chairs. I opted to plop down on one of the big comfy chairs right near the front windows. This was a nice spot to read the book I brought along with me and it also allowed me to meet 2 of the shop's "regulars". These 2 were an older married couple who said they make it to the shop just about every day. I didn't doubt their claim, but it was proven correct when one of the baristas brought the wife's usual mocha without her even going to the counter to order it. The caramel latte I had here was great...the milk was steamed just right and the espresso shots were pulled perfectly. It also wasn't overly sweet, so all the flavors balanced each other out for the optimal mix of sweetness & bitterness. The drink is the only thing I ordered because the muffins and other smaller food options seemed overpriced and didn't really look like anything special. While the food will not draw me back, the coffee definitely will!!! I saw a sign that they host an open mic night once a week, so maybe I will venture back here to check that out.

I have an on again, off again romance with Picasso's. If you are near Old Town Saint Charles and are looking for a quality cup of coffee, then Picasso's is the place to stop. It can be busy, but worth the wait. The pour over coffees are top notch. The espresso drinks vary in quality based on the barista - always good, sometimes fantastic. Food is good. There are alcoholic options for those times when you want coffee and your friend wants a beer or a glass of wine. Can be a good place for a conversation. They do regularly feature live music. It's a hard place to enjoy BOTH conversation and live music. The art on the walls rotates between local/regional artists.

I've been here a couple of times since first discovering it a few years ago. Generally speaking, it's just not my scene. The customers seem to be students from Lindenwood, so there's always 20 somethings with their homework scattered across their tables sipping on coffee and lattes. I will say the atmosphere is much better when they have live music, generally a good vibe during these moments. I really enjoy the small coffee house feel of this place, and it is set up for a nice couples night out when the music is going. My biggest complaint here is the inconsistency in the quality of the coffee itself. A day after my last check in, our awesome new CM (Shout out to Aaron B!) checked in and raved about the Chai Tea that he was served. Mine on the other hand, tasted more like hot water with a bit of spice added. Chai Tea is my drink of choice, and on a given day I've only had one or two "bad" versions of this. On this day, I couldn't finish mine. It was absolutely bland and again, tasted like water. I think they have the tools to be a great stop for a younger crowd. Picasso's just isn't my thing. I will still stop in on occasion, but Old Town has several places to get a good coffee or latte that I will be trying over the next few trips before making a return appearance.

I wish coffee shops would have two different ratings. One for a place to grab coffee, and one for a place to work. I can count the number of times I've actually gone to a coffee shop for the sole purpose of drinking coffee and talking with friends on one hand. But I practically live in coffee shops as a means to get work done. I am desperately seeking a new office away from office, and found this place on Yelp today. I've only ever been to a funeral home in St. Charles, and their downtown area was shockingly similar to the funeral home. Honestly, downtown St. Charles makes me want to vomit. But I was desperate to bang some shit out, so I parked in their teensy parking lot and headed in. Yes- reports of this being a cute coffee shop are true. So cute I had to talk in baby talk to the barista. Probably one of the best coffee shops vibe-wise I've been to. Attention to detail is their middle name. Beautiful. The service wasn't bad, but wasn't super friendly. I didn't see any food options on their menu, and their prices were a little outrageous, if you ask me. A cup of mocha and a brownie came to almost 7 bucks. I would have puked, but I didn't have anything left after my vom fest when I drove into St. Charles. The mocha was good, but claims of this place having the best coffee ever? I don't know. I couldn't taste coffee. All I could taste was sugar. And my taste buds are practically deadened to sugar, since 50% of the fat on my body came from drinking soda. So if I think something's too sweet, it's probably too sweet. As a place to work, this place is miserable. The music is too loud, there are way too many people, and way too much general noise. Also, the people with strollers and having loud conversations don't seem to take the hint of hey, person with a laptop working over there, maybe I won't sit at the table DIRECTLY next to them, maybe I'll choose one of the other tables. But this place is so small, it doesn't matter. They have two couch areas, 6 tables (but two were pushed together, so really only 5), as well as a "bar". I'm sitting here trying to think and all I can hear is a lady trying to force her kid to eat a cinnamon roll and a guy crying about his crashed computer. I'm going to be crying soon about getting fired for not getting any fucking work done. But whatever. It's Saturday. I'll bring earplugs next time I guess. I guess I can't blame this place for being so awesome that they are crowded. I would still drive out here again just to go here. Great date spot. Especially if you're 50 or have kids or dating someone who's in AA. But if you're married to your job, do not come here for a work date. You won't get any. I guess I can't say I didn't get ANYTHING done here. I did write this review. And boom goes the dynamite.

If you are looking for artisan coffee and great casual food then this is the place. The coffee drinks are made by baristas who are passionate about making great drinks and they want you to be happy with your choice. They offer the usual choices but if you are a straight up coffee drinker do not be depressed. The brew bar offers several choices of freshly ground beans and they are outstanding. Food choices for brunch are great, and the pastries are not made in house but are delicious nonetheless. If you want a nice lunch when you are downtown, this is the place.

I'm not really the kind of person who sits at a coffeehouse and I sometimes feel like I've aged out of that crowd when I see all the Lindenwood kids here. The thing is, the staff and shop are so welcoming that I can't resist Picasso's. The art is cute, the environment is comforting and the staff- they are dolls. They seem to compliment everyone who comes in and exchange friendly banter but it comes off as so genuine. I work just down the way so I stop in here when I need to get away from the stuffy crowd or need a pick-me-up. They've got a great lunch menu that I've only just started exploring but the soup+sandwich combo is always a great bet and the Greek salad was everything I wanted. On days I just want a snack they have items from LaBonne Bouchee Bakery and so many drinks that it's hard to go wrong. I love that they offer to heat my pumpkin scones for me (better than Starbucks btw). The only downside is this place is so popular it can be hard to find seating. I'd love to see them in double or triple the size of location.

So I'm in historic Saint Charles and in need of coffee. I was pretty sure I would never be here again in my life so why not take a chance on a local place instead of a chain coffee spot that I could find anywhere I go? Enter in Picasso's. We were there on a Monday morning and this place was packed. And then you have the awkwardness of trying to decipher their names of drinks and what it would normally be named. Luckily, it was pretty easy to figure out and they really got creative with their drinks. So creative that I can't remember what my sister got but it was some kind of mocha/caramel deliciousness. They have brews of the day they brew for you right then and there, whether it be a 16 oz or 24 oz cup. I tried the Apple Crumb Cake because I've never seen an apple flavored coffee before and now know why. It was too bitter for me but I love the hints of spice that came with it. Thumbs up for them thinking outside of the box. If I ever was in this city again, I would definitely stop by again as I love supporting the little guys but I would go all out and get one of their lattes or specialty drinks.

Picasso's is in an excellent location, situated in the heart of historic St. Charles Main Street, and within walking distance of a trail that runs along the Missouri River. The coffee is good, however service can be a little slow at times, however in their defense that's a charge that can be made of every coffeeshop I've been to. The baristas are always pleasant, and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting. The decor is nice, and there's ample seating room most of the time. They have a few tables outside if the weather is nice.

If you are tired of the same old chain coffee spots and in the area, this is the place to go. Best cafe mocha; makes me feel like I'm back in Europe and is always a treat. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that it's not closer to my front door.

LOVED this place from the moment I set foot in it a few odd weeks ago. I recently just started a summer internship out in St. Charles (I live in STL city) and it's a long drive... but I have a lot of friends who live out that way, so I like to meet up with them after work on a Friday at Picasso's. I've only tried the Chai tea latte so far and a raspberry Italian soda. Both were pretty awesome. I had Eggs Benedict one Saturday morning too for the weekend brunch. I like the fact that they have the weekend brunch on BOTH Sat and Sun and that it lasts longer than usual breakfast times... sometimes I want eggs, dammit, and I don't want it to be at 7am either!! :P What I love most about this place is--you guessed it--the art! I fell in love with some paintings by local St. Charles artist Graham Smith. I called up his phone number they had listed on the mantel as soon as I knew I wanted to buy his artwork. I'm so glad I walked in here and I can't wait for more delicious brunch food and the next exhibit! :D The furniture and interior is quite nice as well. It's a "hip" joint without being an over the top grungy hipster lair (like Black Bear Bakery on Cherokee in STL.) If you've been there, you'll know what I'm trying to say. The inside of Picasso's is actually clean. CLEAN. Despite some of the crowd looking pretty "hipster" (nothing wrong with that, though), the floors are clean, the tables are clean, and best of all, no goddamn smoking. (Well except for outside, in front, where it belongs!) I think they have music every so often but I haven't been long enough to hear it so I can't remark on what type of music it is or if it's any good or not. I'd imagine it's local artists and such though. .....Only lost 1 star due to bathroom....smells.... haha. For some reason it always stinks to high heaven in the ladies' room. Please, people, get some stronger air fresheners! xD Addendum: Since this review was posted, they did in fact get better air fresheners for the bathroom. :)

..I think I may have found a good bagel...no stop snickering I am serious!!! I have asked a friend who recently moved from Jersey to confirm my suspicsion but if I am correct..I need a new tag line!! 1) Awesome coffee 2) friendly staff 3) outside seating on street 4) cool decour inside 5) Across from LLewellyn's (and they have crap coffee!) 6) providing BOGO coupons during holidays as wait is longer (seriously this is worth a star by itself!!) 7)..a suspiciously good bagel..do they make them there? if not who makes them? are the overnighted from Manhattan??? Stop in during your holiday stroll through St. Charles (make sure your kids collect all the cards from the period players..so much for "don't talk to strangers who own time machines") and get a bagel...if you feel bad about the carbs hit the Main Street gym for a bootcamp class :D

There are times that we feel that we practically live at Picasso's. It's just like a second home. It's cozy, warm, and is in a wonderful location - on historic Main Street in full view of the Missouri River. The decor is comfortable, and the quirky carved tables are entertainment to read in themselves. There is always local art that is switched out often, and friendly baristas who always put a lot of care into each order, and remember a lot about the people who come there. Special events like music, open mic night, trivia nights, special events, and an eclectic book club keep us coming back for more than just coffee and beer. Specialty flavored coffees are always available (I had a great apple strudel coffee the other day) in addition to the old standbys. Outdoor seating is available, and there is plenty of room to park your bicycle. Dogs are welcome outside. This is the best local coffee shop around!

This is my favorite place to get coffee, smoothies, or humus. The atmosphere is relaxing and makes it a perfect environment to study or work. They also serve wine if requested. It is quiet most of the week, but weekends and some evenings bring crowds and local college students like to study here. Also, Friday night is open mic night.

I didn't eat here, I actually came to see Javier Mendoza on a quiet Friday night. What a great spot to listen to music! I never would have thought that they sell alcohol, but they do! I did try a brownie, it was small, but so rich! Loved it. Hope I can make it back soon!

Awesome chill little place for a great cup of coffee. They have a few outdoor tables that provide a nice relaxing chill environment. Service was great and very friendly. The Snickers Mocha was awesome, a nice hot delicious drink for a cool afternoon. Ordered the Root Beer Frappe because it was warm outside. Ive never seen a root beer frappe before so i had to try it. Tasted like a root beer float with a coffee kick, i have to say i loved it, it was very good. Had a piece of the Pumpkin Bread, very moist and good flavor. I would definitely go back. If you want a nice relaxing place for a great cup of joe, then this is a place you should go. Better than Starbucks, yes I said it...

Best coffee joint in St Charles. Service will be relaxed so have a seat and enjoy the atmosphere. Check out the local artists' work on display while your waiting. Staff is really friendly and they know what they're doing. The snicker latte is pretty good If you've got a sweet tooth. I go for their selection of house blends depending on how much of a caffeine buzz I need. Grab a seat outside for some prime people watching opportunities.

Bring a book and write something, this place is very inspirational. I recommend parking far a way behind Momentum Cycles or ride your bike to Picassos. It is worth parking fay and walking up to. I recommend the Arctic coffee and the Mexican coffee. (they add Chile for a fantastic drink) It is worth tipping them $5 when you can.

The coffee is GOOD. THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. Seriously about half the staff are bitchy. Always a sarcastic comeback and not in a funny way. St Louis and surrounding generally has really bad service, but these people are miserable. There is a new coffee place down main street think I will try it.

Each day should start with time to sit and savor a good cup of coffee. Picasso's will not disappoint. Great coffee, cheerful eclectic atmosphere, extremely friendly staff. They were busy & crowded, yet our drinks and food still arrived in a timely fashion. Staff were quick to assist people in finding a table, as well as clearing tables and thanking everyone for their patience. Kudos to a great staff who know how to handle a rush with a smile.

This place is just wonderful. I have bought lattes (hot and iced), smoothies, and bite sized snacks - and all of the items were so good that I bought them again. Besides, I just love the ambiance of this place - it is so warm and welcoming, and I love their poster about "Unattended Children".

Neat little coffee shop on Main Street. They had decent lattes, but wish they had a better milk in them. The coffee tasted like quality roasted beans, but the milk tasted like regular old grocery store milk. They would make an amazing latte if their dairy was the same quality as their beans. Now that I've said this, let me say this is the best coffee I have found in St Charles so they are doing something right :-). I haven't tried their sandwiches, but their menu looked very appetizing... my next visit to town will include trying out some of their food.

I took my daughter on a Mommy + Daughter date. I ordered a Snickers Latte. It was beautiful. Best latte that I ever had. They brought her "coffee" (as she calls it but really it was milk) in a little cup. We shared a grilled cheese and some pumpkin bread. I love how there was so many bikers biking by and it was nice to sit outside. One of the best moments of my life with her so far. Great times!

Local musicians on Thursday nights! Picasso's is a nice and quaint coffee shop located in the St. Charles area. I went on a Thursday to support one of my friends who sings and plays guitar. It was great to see so many local musicians coming in and performing, singing and playing their hearts out. While I watched, I had Picasso's Vanilla bean frappe, which was money (just in case you don't know my lingo, "money" means "awesome.") I know it's a coffee shop, but I'm not a big coffee fan. This place gets 5 stars for their frappe and dedication to giving a voice for local performers in the StL area.

Picasso's Coffee is a great place to go to relax and enjoy a nice cup of coffee or even an espresso if you are looking for that extra bit of flavorful jolt of energy. Located right in the heart of historic St. Charles on the riverfront, you can just sit back and relax and watch the people as they stroll by. Picasso's Coffee also has some tasty pastries. If you are drinking coffee someplace it is almost a cardinal sin not to of something to eat to go along with it. Their pastries are wonderful, always tasting as if they have just come right out of the oven. Picasso's Coffee is a great place to sit back and enjoy yourself.

It lives up to the hype. Very cool and comfortable place. More space than most coffee shops. I am not a coffee drinker but the girls with me ordered a mocha and a peppermint mocha. The designs were "so beautiful." They tasted "the way a mocha is supposed to taste." "Why would you ever go to Starbucks."

Best coffee I ever had. The brew bar Is fantastic, good bye Starbucks. Highlander Grog is wonderful, just a hint of butterscotch. Great Kona coffee, Jamaican Mt, refills. I want to try them all. Music is fun if you catch the right artist.

I recently went here for a meeting with my wonderful boss, Aimee K. I've been here a couple times and it can be hard to find real estate as the Lindenwood rats tend to take it over but our meeting was around spring break so we were able to get a spot. It's a fairly peaceful environment. In fact, it was so quiet I think Aimee and I were the only ones not reading a book or alone on our computers. I ordered a Chai-tea latte and I highly recommend it. Many coffee shops making the mistake of making it way to spicy or "chai-y". If you need a quiet & calm place to go this is a great choice. I need to come back and try their coffee before I can recommend it.

I've only been here once for a work meeting, but I really liked it. I only got a cappuccino, but it was so good. As strange as it sounds- this place has a really great feel to it. Not as hipster-y as I thought it was going to be. Also, it was pretty busy, so if you want a spot in the morning- get there early! I would definitely meet here with friends or co-workers again. It's a good change from Bread Co or Starbucks meetings.

Totally love this place & miss it since I no longer live in St. Charles. They have really tasty Kona coffee along with a wide and always changing variety of other coffee. The iced coffee really hits the spot on a warm day and most everything is really pretty cheap. I appreciate the live music & chill atmosphere here and it's a world away from some of the other drunken-bafoon type of places just down the road on main street.
